A Sustainable Craft Beer Born from Rice Innovation

2026-02-18

News

We are proud to announce the launch of "ZO-no-MAI," a premium upcycled craft beer developed under our "Rice Lab" initiative. This project embodies our commitment to sustainability by giving new life to the high-quality rice used during our rigorous rice cooker development tests.

The Concept: "ZO-no-MAI" (The Dancing Elephant)

The name "ZO-no-MAI" is a playful Japanese pun:

  • ZO: Represents the iconic Zojirushi Elephant.
  • MAI: Carries a dual meaning of "Rice" (米) and "Dance" (舞).

Combined, it translates to "Elephant Dance," expressing a flavor so exceptionally it would make our elephant dance with joy. It celebrates the transformation of "Mottainai" (wasteful) surplus rice into a refreshing Golden Ale that pairs perfectly with Japanese cuisine.

Commitment to Sustainability

By upcycling cooked rice from our testing labs into a high-quality beverage, Zojirushi is redefining food waste reduction through the lens of Japanese rice culture. We remain committed to "Creating a Quality of Life" by finding innovative, delicious ways to value every single grain of rice.
